Mariana Lameiras is PhD in Communication Sciences (University of Minho, Braga, Portugal) and is a Senior Research Analyst at the United Nations University Operating Unit on Policy-Driven Electronic Governance (UNU-EGOV) with particular interest in e-Participation, community engagement for critical and active citizenship, (local) e-Government, including measuring and assessment, Digital Media, Media Governance, and Public Policy. Currently, Mariana is engaged in projects dealing with beneficiary feedback and governance and operational models for citizen engagement (with Saudi Arabia), the web presence of local government in Portuguese municipalities (with GÁVEA – Observatory for the Information Society of the University of Minho and AMA – the Portuguese Agency for Administrative Modernisation) and worldwide (in collaboration with UNDESA – United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs).
Mariana co-leads the group dedicated to “Policies, Regulation and Political Economy of Media” from the Portuguese Association of Communication Sciences (SOPCOM) and is a national collaborator of the European Audiovisual Observatory (EAO) and the Institute for Information Law (University of de Amsterdam), developing studies and articles for IRIS – Legal Observations of the EAO and Merlin database and reporting for national media policies.
Junior researcher at the Communication and Society Research Centre, he holds a PhD in Cultural Studies/Sociology of Culture by the University of Minho. Between 2015 and 2019, he carried out a post-doc research in Communication Sciences at the University of Minho, the University of Santiago de Compostela and the University of São Paulo. Coordinates, since 2016, the 2CN-CLab. Research interests: cultural policies, cultural management, cultural networks, cultural mediation, culture audiences, artistic education, artistic creation and cultural industries.
