Seminar on television and video streaming
Discussing the growth of video streaming services over the internet is the main objective of the next session of the Permanent Seminar on Communication and Culture Policies, scheduled for September 26 at 14h30. Open to the participation of teachers, researchers and students, the meeting will be led by Fernando Silva, a Ph.D. in Communication and Culture from the School of Communication of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and ex–collaborator of TV Globo.
At a time when television consumption has declined in favour of services such as YouTube, Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, this seminar proposes a reflection on the paradigm shift that is the transition from traditional television to on-demand video. Focusing on the Brazilian audiovisual market and taking into account the particular case of TV Globo, the keynote speaker will seek to put into perspective the strategies that this TV channel is developing to resist the globalised and disruptive television scenario. More broadly, participants will be invited to reflect on the diversity of screens and the wide range of content that today allows customization of consumption.
